family dinners

so, a couple weeks ago, cody had the brilliant idea to suggest having sunday night family dinners.

the tradition was born and it's since been wonderful.

week 1: inaugural supper at willie/laura/cody's place complete with delicious lemon chicken, salad, vino, beer and browines. the dinner was followed by hilarious games of taboo and cranium, seated on their unbelievably comfy $15 couches and surrounded by their fun new decal decorations.

week 2: ruthie visits for a week (!) and replaces me at family dinner while i'm in yosemite.

week 3: we are treated to a delicious meal made by willie's parents. the menu included an old poor family favorite of pasta carbonara, a new meg favorite of basil and mint salad, with some other crowd pleasers thrown in like baguettes, alcohol, ice cream [and lots of laughter]. in related food news, meg had her first olive last night and apparently willie once had bacon filled chocolate.

week 4: will not be this weekend, as some people are traveling for the fourth of july, but next weekend. in fact, we are going to make it a forbes family weekend. festivities will kick off with a housewarming party at willie/laura/cody's [possibly with a keg], followed by a day on the water with cody as sailing captain only to be topped off with a bbq on my roof for forbes family dinner number four.

[happy now, meggie?]

At Last

Dearest Meg and Cody (and everyone else),

I am very sorry for not living up to the Forbes Family expectations by not blogging all aspects of my life. The taxi ride tonight was truly an eye-opener and I am sorry for all the long nights you spent refreshing the Forbes Family website, hoping a non-blogger like myself would surprise you.

I am overdue and think it's time I properly shed some light on the beauty of living the dream amongst so many Forbes Family members.

To start, I am coming up on the one year anniversary of sharing the beautiful city of San Francisco with the lovely Meghan Louise Gallagher. And, as of Friday, also have the pleasure of spending my summer with Moosehead Challenge Champion himself Cody Sonntag. And, of course, Willie and Laura just moved from Mountain View to the city themselves and we've had the great honor of being visited by many wonderful family members such as Copplestone (who wins for the longest stay), Ann Vale (who wins for the most frequent visits), Kiran, Kirsten, Teresa, Jason and Laurie.

There is obviously a lot to be told and most of it will have to wait for another day, especially since I'm exhausted after the Speechwriters (!) concert we attended tonight.

I'll give you a tease of what's to come with an accidental matching photo of two Forbes Family members in the park, wearing shirts they bought with the beautiful Kirsten Ruch during their Asian Invasion 2009 Aventure. Unfortunately, Willie's eyes aren't open in the photo --- but then again, it's nice to be reminded, every once in awhile, that some things don't change :)
* Stay tuned for the unbelievably epic tale of Mo's diner with Ann, Teresa and Meg back in the fall of '08 in San Francisco, photos from my spring trip to see the Brits in the UK and many upcoming blogs about summer '09 (such as Jaidip's upcoming visit! los angeles! and sailing trips with Cody as captain!)

START PLANNING

Dear Family,

I thought it time to properly write a blog entry because we have important matters to discuss...

REUNIONS.

Meg, Ann and I are planning an extended reunions, family vacation.
Ideally, you would arrive Thursday, May 29 and leave on or after Tuesday, June 3.
Since this post is going out 6 months ahead of the date there is absolutely no reason, IN THE WORLD, why anyone should dare miss it (unless you are our little Teresa and will still be in Japan).

For the rest of you, if you would, please start booking your flights, requesting time off work, etc. Meg and Ann have asked me to kindly invite you to stay at Ann's home and enjoy some quality family time post the tent-craziness of Princeton reunions. Meg promises days spent poolside, Ann promises nights spent sleeping the dream. Ann promises to cook pancakes, Meg promises to bring cheesesteaks. What could be better? If anyone is hugely opposed to a few days spent on the Main Line of Philadelphia, Ann also suggests renting a beach house. Essentially, tell us what you want to do, give us some input....and we'll plan something magical.
Thoughts?

I am very sorry

...you can blame the idea on Jon (and the usage of the word psyche on Chris). Anyway, we are having a lovely time.
